SAAB 1.9 TID

VAUXHALL CDTI

If you drive either of the above two vehicles or any vehicle fitted with the CDTI engine, particularly the 1.9 version, and it has not had a water pump in the last 60,000 miles, then we advise that you have a waterpump and timing belt kit fitted ASAP.

Although the timing belt interval for these engines is around the 80,000 mile mark, there have been several instances of the water pump siezing solid at around the 60,000 mile mrk or thereabouts, and as such it has been deemed an issue.

If this happens then it causes the timing belt to strip, slip, or snap with potentially disasterous results.

With the 16v 150 bhp engine, the damage is usually limited to broken roller rockers, however, with the 120 bhp 8v engine, severe damage is more or less guaranteed.
